Inspiration:
Lush texture, vibrant color, beeswax & varnish create
delicious layers of color. The lyrical lines of the botanicals
mimic the lines of the shed horn. A shed horn is a antler that
has been naturally shed by the animal. Shed horns are symbols
of rejuvenation and vitality, some peoples believe that eating
powdered shed horns will endow them with those qualities. I
find those qualities in the flowers and leaves I've paired them
with. This image is part of a series that includes one painting
in a main color: red, yellow, green and blue. The red
symbolizes the life force of all living creatures through the
shared color of red blood. I am aware not all creatures have
red blood, this image is symbolic rather than literal.
Beautiful antler art.
